How Seniors Qualify
Most seniors qualify for free tablets through the federal Lifeline program via one or more of these pathways:
- Medicaid enrollment (Medicare Savings Programs often include Medicaid) â automatic Lifeline qualifier
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) â directly qualifies for Lifeline
- Federal Public Housing Assistance â qualifies if receiving Section 8 or other federal housing
- Income-based â household income at or below 135% FPL on fixed retirement income

Check Medicare + Medicaid (Dual Eligible)
If you receive both Medicare and Medicaid (Dual Eligible), you automatically qualify for Lifeline. Contact your state Medicaid office to confirm your enrollment status.
Gather Your Benefit Letters
Collect your SSI award letter, Medicaid card, or housing assistance documentation. Your Medicare card alone does not qualify for Lifeline.
Apply for Lifeline
Apply at LifelineSupport.org or ask a family member or local senior center for help with the online application. Phone applications are also available at 1-800-234-9473.
Choose a Senior-Friendly Provider
Look for providers with large-button interfaces and accessible customer support. Many providers offer tablets with simplified settings pre-configured for seniors.
